Mrs. Jenifer Richardson, Principal

Jenifer RichardsonOak Grove’s building theme for the school year is “Bound To Excel.” It is our goal to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment through which all students not only excel in academics, but also physically, socially and emotionally in a positive learning environment.

Oak Grove is a Professional Learning Community promoting a supportive and collaborative school culture. Staff are regularly engaged in collaborative discussions regarding student achievement through the analysis and reflection of student data, research-based instructional strategies and best practices while focusing on student goals and learner outcomes. We strive to teach for a deeper understanding by developing the student’s skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity and the ability to work together collaboratively.

Oak Grove will continue to implement the Capturing Kids’ Hearts model that was introduced during the 2014/15 school year. This model focuses on building positive, trusting and productive relationships among staff, students and parents.

Oak Grove will also be implementing a new volunteer program, “Adopt a Reader.” Parents and community members will have the opportunity to volunteer through Oak Grove’s Bright Futures site council to read with a student two to three times per week throughout the year.

Oak Grove’s Jingle Jog community service project last year was the “Little Red Book Shelf” project. Students, parents and community members have the opportunity throughout the year to donate new or used children’s books to be placed on red bookshelves displayed at local businesses to promote reading outside of school hours. Last but not least, we are proud to have Poplar Bluff Realty as our school sponsor!
